MakerDAO Governance Analytics Dashboard
Decentralized governance often struggles with complexity, poor data visibility, and low voter participation, and MakerDAO, securing over $9.3B in assets, was no exception. Proposal resolution could take up to three weeks, with only a fraction of MKR holders participating.
To solve this, MakerDAO partnered with Protofire to build the Maker Governance Dashboard — a real-time governance interface that cut decision-making time by 83% (now under 72 hours), grew voter participation 10x (to 12,000+ users), and tracks over $39.9M in MKR staked per vote. With 4.2 M+ data points processed monthly, the dashboard has become a new benchmark for scalable, transparent DAO governance.
About the Project
We have built an analytics dashboard for the MakerDAO Governance enabling users to track the latest updates and view historical data in a single place. Through the intuitive and easy-to-navigate dashboard, it is possible to access the information that is crucial for voting and polling, such as a stability fee, debt ceiling, multi-collateral DAI assets, and more. The solution allows to monitor the overall engagement metrics in the MakerDAO system.

During a joint discovery phase with the MakerDAO core team, Protofire conducted a detailed assessment of their existing governance workflows and tools. Together, we uncovered a set of bottlenecks that were slowing down decision-making and discouraging broader community involvement.
Several issues stood out:
- Fragmented Visibility: Governance data was dispersed across multiple platforms and formats, making it difficult for stakeholders to get a real-time, accurate view of proposal progress or MKR voting activity.
- Cumbersome Participation Flow: The path from proposal discovery to vote submission was unintuitive and time-consuming, which discouraged participation—especially among newer or non-technical token holders.
- Delayed Outcomes: Proposals could remain unresolved for up to three weeks due to slow feedback loops and lack of immediate insight into voting trends.
- Limited Engagement Signals: The team lacked the analytics necessary to understand user behavior, spot friction points, or adapt to the evolving needs of a growing DAO community.
These problems aren’t unique to MakerDAO—they reflect broader systemic challenges facing decentralized governance. But by identifying these specific pain points together, we were able to frame a solution that addressed both MakerDAO’s immediate needs and the general requirements of scalable DAO tooling.

- Operational Efficiency: Average proposal resolution time decreased from up to 21 days to under 72 hours (-83%), significantly reducing decision-making bottlenecks.
